Cougars Still A Drift

Cougars Returned To Coach Kelly

Patrick Kelly regains control of the Colorado Cougars by default. Brandon Williams cannot be found and did not satisfy the requirement of putting a team on the floor. Kelly couldn't be reached for comment but can be expected to exercise much better patience this time this time around; whether he once again, gives his franchise away, or whether he decides t have another run at it hmself.

The return of the Cougars!

Patrick Kelly announced today that he is releasing all ownership rights  of the Colorado Cougars to a new group recently approved by the ABA led by Brandon Williams. "Brandon has been a friend of the Cougars since our humble beginnings and now he guides the ship." Kelly  said. Kelly is in effect giving up all rights to the team for zero dollars. "It was never about the money," Kelly said, "Brandon has the drive and the ability to make this beautiful dream a reality, I will do all I can to help, but now it really is his baby."  Kelly who has already been a subject of a rediculous DORA sting operation made it clear, "Brandon gets it all, website control, uniforms, logo, even my clipboard if he wants it. I am happy to give it all to his program; no charge..."

Williams is pleased, but added, "He might need the clipboard..." eluding to the reality of Kelly being on the short list of head coaching candidates. Kelly coached the Cougars for two seasons.

ABA ADDS COLORADO COUGARS TO EXPANSION TEAMS

Indianapolis, IN.  The American Basketball Association (ABA) www.americanbasketballassociation.org today announced that it has added the Colorado Cougars based on Loveland CO to its growing list of expansion teams.  "It has been very important to us that we add teams in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and New Mexico," stated ABA co-founder Joe Newman.  "With the addition of the Cougars, it is a great start."

The team will be owned by Brandon Williams, a native of Denver CO who was born with Cerebral Palsy, and was the first referee in the US to officate a high school basketball game in a wheel chair.

Brandon has had a lifetime of interest in sports and his ABA team is the culmination of a dream.  He is currently serving as Executive Director of the MGM Employment Rights Fund and works with numerous not-for-profit organizations in the area.  "I am truly excited to bring another ABA team to Colorado, added Williams.  "And I am looking forward to a great season of basketball."  For more information, call 720 583 2595 or 620 583 2564 or email brandon_awilliams@q.com or visit www.americanbasketballassociation.org

2013-

With a heavy heart, Patrick Kelly of the Colorado Cougars announced today that the Cougars will not play in the ABA this fall and their franchise may have to leave the controversial league altogether. Kelly, the teams managing partner announced today that the proposed restructuring of the conference will make it almost impossible to make the team viable in the future without some very deep pockets at the helm. Deep pockets Kelly just doesn't have. He said, "I hope the players and fans realize I did everything I could think of to make this wonderful experiment work here in Northern Colorado." He went on to say, "The players deserve better and now they are free to sign on with another team." The ABA is reportedly exploring options to have as many as a half a dozen teams in Colorado, making it even harder for the Cougars to compete for players and for a fan base. Kelly said the Cougars were not consulted by the conference chairman or the ABA about the proposed restructure. In fact, he was omitted from the conference call. "I feel a little snubbed," said Kelly. He was referring to conference chairman and Colorado Kings owner; Durrell Middleton. "Durrell is a nice man, and he has earned and completely deserves the respect of the ABA; however, he made the decision two years ago that the Cougars weren't a good idea, and we were in trouble... The court was never really level, he is just too powerful to oppose."

The Cougars seemed to be a little bit snake-bit from the beginning. From their inaugural coach quitting on the team just days before the franchise opener, to a ridiculous DORA secret undercover investigation to nowhere. From referees not showing up, teams late for games, showing up without their star players, an opponent showing up without uniforms, and unfortunately that was for the Cougars first game ever. Just a few of the challenges the organization had in the very first month of their official existence.

Kelly concluded saying; "This is a very sad day for me and for my whole family, we really love this team. We wanted this to be first class. For the players and the fans. We wanted this crazy dream to succeed for the players and for Northern Colorado. I am still stunned." Kelly said. "I will explore other options and other leagues, but it appears that our beloved Colorado Cougars; so very tough to beat on the court; may have been defeated off the court. I am so sorry. To all of you who worked so hard and supported us so vehemently; thank you so very much. I will never forget any of you."

"To the players; I am sorry." Kelly said, "Thanks for the memories!"

Thank You Players and Fans!!
